Project INSTAR Registration

DUE TO THE CURRENT EDUCATIONAL BUDGET CUTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, THERE HAS BEEN NO FUNDING TO RUN PROJECT INSTAR FOR THE 2008-2010 SUMMERS.  IT IS OUR HOPE THAT THROUGH FUTURE GRANTS WE WILL BE ABLE TO ONCE AGAIN PROVIDE SUPERIOR SCIENCE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR TEACHERS IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY.

Interested in engaging in real scientific research activities that you can use back in your classroom? Project INSTAR is in its eleventh year of engaging science educators in current marine science research, education, and technology training.

Please complete the registration form below. Items marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.

Limit: 30 participants per workshop (first come first served, upon receipt of application).

A base registration fee of $1000 per teacher includes:

  • Earth Systems Science content and instructional materials
  • Field trips and classroom lab activities
  • Tool Kits - $300 of resources
  • Daily breakfasts
  • Certificate of completion for recertification

Additional fees, such as graduate credits and lodging are optional.

Project INSTAR Location
Dates and times for each location are listed below.

South Florida Project INSTAR June 9-14 or July 14-19, 2008 from 8:00am-6pm daily.

Participants may receive 1 to 3 graduate credits from Univ. of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science that can be used toward science renewal or technology credit. UM School of Ed. students may receive credit toward their MAT degree.
